Each day, we will feature several courses. The number of courses posted about each day will vary depending on our schedule and tasks for the day. Throughout the session, we will feature as many courses as possible.
Students in "Dimensions of Disadvantage," discussed ability today. After hearing some startling statistics about the lack of representation of people with disabilities, students red an article about intellectual and physical disabilities. They talked about what it means to have an invisible disability and how to use more appropriate language. Then, students watched the pilot episode of "Atypical" before journaling and reflecting on all that they learned.
Today in "Religion, Rulers, and Riots," students learned about the rise of Islam and interfaith conflicts. In addition to Hindu and Buddhism conflict, students learned about and role played in a game about Christian conflict between the East and West. This conflict is often associated with Greek Orthodoxy in the East and Roman Catholicism in the West.
Today in "From Hamlet to Black Panther," students finished Black Panther. Students then began a discussion comparing Hamlet, Lion King and Black Panther. The class concluded with writers workshop. Here students learned how to write a play, specifically how to write a monologue.
Best,
Nicole, Olivia and Abby
