NATHALIE CHAO
Head Counselor (5-8)
Hi everyone! My name is Nathalie Chao and I am one of the two Head Counselors for the 5-8 camp! I am a proud Duke at James Madison University, where I am currently in my junior year pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing! After graduation, I hope to work towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Midwifery and Women’s Health. During my time in school, I’ve been an active member of the Nursing Student Association, where I’ve been able to help those in need in my community, as well as the Chinese Student Association, where I am able to celebrate my culture while supporting diversity and inclusion on campus! Currently, I serve nursing students across Virginia as the Director at Large for the Virginia Nursing Students’ Association. I am a Virginian who loves to try new recipes, play volleyball with friends, dance like nobody’s watching, and pet as many dogs as humanly possible. SEP is one of my favorite places on earth; after attending the program for six years as a camper, this will be my third summer working behind the scenes, helping to create the SEP magic. I am so incredibly excited to spend time with your camper in what will be the best summer ever, and I can’t wait for him or her to experience the SEP magic as well!
AJ LEVY

Hello! My name is Aj Levy and I’m so excited to be one of the 5-8 Head Counselors for SEP 2019! Having spent my last four years at UVA, I’ve come to call this place my home and I’m happy to stay in Charlottesville for the summer after I graduate. I’m a fourth year studying Psychology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and will be graduating in May 2019. I hope to continue onto graduate school pursuing a PhD in clinical, counseling, and/or school psychology, depending on which program I ultimately choose to attend. During my time at UVA, I’ve accomplished so much and participated in a wide variety of extracurriculars including student theater, class council, conducting research, and bettering my community through raising  awareness on a variety of health topics through the Office of Health Promotion in Student Health. Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with my friends, dancing, cooking for others, and working on the novel I’m in the process of writing. I also love high-fives, so when you see me, ask me for a high-five! SEP has meant the world to me for such a big part of my life, having been a camper for four years and this being my fourth year as a counselor. I’m looking forward to making these two weeks of your child’s summer the absolute best and to help them love SEP as much as I did when I was younger. This is going to be such an amazing summer!
BELLE BURDEN
Head Counselor (9-11)
Hi! I am Belle Burden and I am so excited to be your 9-11 Head Counselor for SEP 2019! I will be fresh out of undergrad from JMU, having majored in Theatre and Pre-law. After a much-needed gap year, I hope to attend law school focusing on public interest law. My theatre major led me to law after I found myself creating politically and morally charged pieces of work more and more. I then realized that the best way for me to inspire change is to be in the courtroom. While I’m not pursuing theatre and law in class, I spend a lot of time serving as President for my a cappella group, Note-oriety. I adore singing with this wonderful group of women and performing for my peers at JMU and citizens of the Harrisonburg community. I also enjoy writing, reading, dancing and going to the movies! After spending one summer here at SEP as a counselor, I just had to come back and was fortunate enough to be offered the position of Head Counselor. SEP is so important to me because of the joy that your children bring to this camp. I have a lot of excitement about this coming summer- your kids are in great hands here at SEP!

Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, Alex Briegel is incredibly excited to work at SEP this summer. He is currently a rising second year at UVA and is planning on majoring in neuroscience and minoring in astronomy. He has been a camp counselor at various other camps and has always enjoyed working with the campers!

Hello! My name is Hannah Clark and I am a rising third year at the University of Virginia. I am a mechanical engineering student with a studio art minor. Here at UVA I am involved with the engineering sorority, I coach a U-12 soccer team, I am also on an intramural flag football team, and I play on both a local and intramural soccer team. In my free time I like to cook, watch movies especially horror movies and superhero movies, play any sports, read, and hang out with friends. I am from NOVA but growing up my family lived abroad in both Germany and Austria.

Hey, I'm Julia! I'm about to go into my 5th year for my Master's in Elementary Education through the Curry School at the University of Virginia. I also just finished my undergrad major in Psychology so I participated in what I called "fake graduation" (because I still have another year to go!) I've been known to address everyone as "friend", I'm prone to eating half a bag of Skinny Pop at once, and I have a slight obsession with doing my eyebrows every day - I can't go outside if they're not filled in.

Hi everyone! My name is Emma Hilldrup and I am a rising fourth year at the University of Virginia. I am a Psychology major while simultaneously pursuing a Masters in Special Education through the Curry School of Education. This upcoming semester, I will be completing my student teaching internship at Mortimer C. Sutherland Middle School in Albemarle County and getting one step closer to becoming a certified Special Education teacher. After graduation next May, I will be returning home to Richmond to teach somewhere in Henrico County. This is my first summer as a SEP Counselor and I am so excited to welcome the awesome campers and lead them through an amazing session of learning and growing!
