Each day, we will feature several courses. The number of courses posted about each day will vary depending on our schedule and tasks for the day. Throughout the session, we will feature as many courses as possible.
Students in "Parsing Primary Sources," went on an afternoon field trip to a history course in New Cabell Hall at UVA. The course was on second wave feminism. In addition to having a first college course experience, students learned about the history and roles of American women after 1800. They also got to work in small groups with UVA students to analyze primary source documents on various women groups like Asian-Pacific women, women in unions, etc.
Today in "From Hamlet to Black Panther," students covered Act IV of Hamlet. Students had the opportunity to write their own ending for the play prior to starting Act V. For acts IV and V students read excerpts from the play as well as watched brief clips from the movie.
Today in "Engineering Hogwarts" students discussed engineering ethics. They analyzed and debated several engineering ethics scenarios in small groups. Collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and controversy highlighted today's class.
Today in “Religion, Rulers, and Riots,” students learned about the Roman Empire in the first century, BCE. The discussion centered around Military Victories for Rome and the beginning of a new government.
Best,
