Today in "(Super) Human Physics" students finished up their second lab of the class, did a reaction time lab, and began investigating superspeed.
This morning in "Financing Your Future," students learned about the differences between gross and net income. They completed a worksheet to calculate these amounts and were awarded up to $1000.00 for correct responses.

"Architecture: Redesign in order to Reuse" students practiced drawing. In particular, students practiced drawing blind contours. The amount of focus that students had was impressive. Everyone seemed to be having a fun time looking at the objects they were drawing rather than their paper.
Today in "Engineering Hogwarts," SEP 9-11 Engineers worked in groups to design and build a space colony located on mars. Each group was in charge of developing a particular aspect of the colony, for example, agriculture, medical, housing, and recreation. After each group designed their parts, the whole class worked together to combine what they and create the colony as a whole.
Today in "Math, Statistics. Game Theory," students learned about discount factors and personality types in games. They focused on strategies to use when playing games based on the type of person their opponent is, how many rounds are played, the chance of error, and more. After an online simulation of various scenarios and how one would play a game according to the situation, students applied these tactics to creating a strategy chart of their own.

Today in "Engineers can Change the World," students worked in groups to present their school bus redesign to their classmates. Students final presentations included sketches of the interior and exterior of their school bus, the problems they were trying to solve, and the stakeholders involved.

Today in "Life is a Balancing Act," Students worked to create their well-balanced toy. The goal for the design of the toy was for them to be able to balance it on a tightrope. Students first drew out their plans and then began constructing them using cardboard, construction paper, pipe cleaners, etc.
Today in “So You Want to Change the World,” students worked in groups to choose a topic/problem that they feel passionate about. Students worked together to construct their argument and write a speech to convince their audience of their point of view. Students read their speeches to the class and responded to questions about their speech.

My daughter is in Financing Your Future class. During her Thursday night call she told me, "mom, it is hard to balance the budget! Now I know how much work it takes." And the told me she bought a yellow Jeep Wrangler with her first money :-)
