Today students in "Explorations in Neuroscience" and "The Energizers and Catalyzers in the Biochemical Process," took a break from presentations to play neurotransmitter tag! In this game, the blacktop served as the synapse. Most of the students played as neurotransmitters, trying to get their message across the synapse. A few students, played as enzymes trying to stop the message. Looked like fun!

Today in "Architecture: Redesign in order to Reuse," SEP architects continue to diligently work on their redesign of the Landmark Hotel in Downtown Charlottesville. Students are using popsicle sticks, cardboard, construction paper, and other materials to create a 3D model of their carefully planned redesign.  Today in "Periodic Explorations," students had the opportunity to explore liquid nitrogen. In the first experiment observed, teacher Michael Farabaugh placed a balloon in liquid nitrogen and passed it around the class. For the second experiment, students were joined by 7-8 students from "(Super) Human Physics". In this experiment, a racquetball was placed in liquid nitrogen and then thrown on the floor where it shattered.
